Summer Music

On July 27, I jammed with Billy Bragg (along with 50 or so other people) at his big busk at Lincoln Center out-of-doors fest.

In addition to a few dozen guitarists (with a broad range of expertise), there were a couple of trumpets, a small drum kit, and I played the harp on a few tunes. Actually, I only played at the rehearsal for the show.

There were people on stage holding up chord changes on cue cards for tunes like Many Rivers to Cross, The Weight, and a Johnny Cash song. I had to leave early to see Wanda Jackson at SummerStage in Central Park. She seemed a little frail, but still fiesty.

Returned to Lincoln Center on Saturday, July 30, for the Ponderosa Stomp Girl Power Show — Ronnie Spector, Leslie Gore, Arlene Smith, and many others, including my old girlfriend and bandmate Nanette Licari from Reparata and the Delrons. They all sounded great. Lucky we left before David Letterman’s band on stage for the finale tribute to Ellie Greenwich.
